Borzoi dogs were once a hunting breed and have adapted into a loyal and affectionate companion, gradually the breed has become a familiar sight in homes throughout Europe and they adapted well as companions and show dogs. The Borzoi is proud and loyal to its family and it is also known for being calm and independent.
Tragically, Goldie's litter, due June 10, 2005, was lost to an undetected staph infection. Only 1 puppy survived delivery by C-section and the small sable and white female died 24 hours later. Three weeks later, Goldie developed pyometra of the uterus and had to undergo an emergency hysterectomy. Now fully recovered, Goldie is enjoying herself running and jumping all over the 5 acre home she shares with Hunter, Jaeger and Brusi.
During the next year, Marwoods will be acquiring Oaklara Borzoi to once again have a breeding program, but for now, Borzoi breeding is on hold. Thanks for all the inquiries and heartfelt sympathies.
